The Experimental Center of the College of Urban Construction is directly affiliated with the College of Urban Construction. It adheres to the guiding ideology of putting people first, coordinating planning, sharing resources, serving the entire college, and improving efficiency. Based on the professional training objectives, the center aims to cultivate students' practical skills and innovation ability, and to reform the experimental teaching content and methods, with the support of the faculty and equipment construction, and the guarantee of institutional construction and scientific management. The center is gradually improving and striving to form an interdisciplinary experimental teaching center through resource sharing and open operation.

Currently, the center has professional laboratories, including Civil Engineering Laboratory, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering Laboratory, and Building Environment and Energy Application Laboratory. It also has a municipal key laboratory - Changzhou Key Laboratory of Building Energy-saving Technology, and co-builds the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Analysis Testing Center of Jiangsu Higher Education Institutions. The center has about 765 sets of experimental instruments and a total asset of 14 million RMB, and the co-built Analysis Testing Center has more than 11 million RMB of assets with 43 sets of large instruments.

 

(1) Civil Engineering Laboratory

The Civil Engineering Laboratory covers a total area of 800 square meters and has several labs, including Building Materials Laboratory, Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, and Structural Mechanics Laboratory. It undertakes experimental teaching courses such as Civil Engineering Material Experiment, Soil Mechanics Experiment, Civil Engineering Geology Practice, Civil Engineering Testing Technology, and Basic Components Experiment of Concrete. It also provides support for civil engineering innovative experiments and offers 23 experimental projects. The laboratory is equipped with various instruments such as Universal Testing Machine, Microcomputer Controlled Electro-hydraulic Pressure Testing Machine, Cement Flexural and Compression Strength Testing Machine, Concrete Curing Box, Consolidation Apparatus, Liquid Plastic Limit Combination Tester, Direct Shear Apparatus, Electric Impact Apparatus, Steel Truss, Resistance Strain Gauge, Reinforced Concrete Beam Loading Device, and Steel Reinforcement Position Detector.

(2) Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering Laboratory

The Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering Laboratory occupies a total area of 620 square meters and includes several labs, such as Hydraulic Laboratory, Water Treatment Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Water Quality Analysis Laboratory, and Water Pump and Pumping Station Laboratory. It undertakes experimental teaching courses such as Water Quality Engineering Experiment Technology, Hydraulics, Water Treatment Microbiology, Water Pump and Pumping Station, and Water Quality Analysis. It provides support for undergraduate and graduate students in water supply and drainage with 74 experimental projects. The laboratory is equipped with a series of experimental teaching instruments such as Ozone Generator, Electrical Floater, Reverse Osmosis, Free Sedimentation, Filter Backwashing, Water Pump Performance Curve, Microscope, COD Rapid Digestion Apparatus, and Spectrophotometer.

(3) Building Environment and Energy Application Laboratory

The Building Environment and Energy Application Laboratory covers a total area of 810 square meters with 191 sets of instrument and equipment, and a total asset value of 1.93 million RMB. It undertakes experimental teaching courses such as Building Environment Professional Basic Experiment and Energy and Power Professional Experiment with 13 experimental projects.

(4) Analysis Testing Center

The center co-builds the Analysis Testing Center with an area of 240 square meters, which provides strong technical support for the college's scientific research and also provides analysis testing and technical services for the society. It has 23 sets of large instruments and equipment, with a total asset value of more than 11 million RMB, including advanced large and medium-sized precision instruments from universities in Jiangsu Province.
